Pottery Workshop for Two Students

A two-hour wheel throwing and handbuilding lesson for two students. Beginners friendly.

140 US dollars

Service Description

This beginners-friendly workshop is designed for people who want to try pottery with a friend, without a multi-week commitment! The studio only has one wheel, so you and your friend (or family member, coworker, or enemy, I won't judge) will both have to be okay with doing some handbuilding while the other uses the wheel. It's fun, I promise. You will learn: •How to measure and wedge clay in preparation for throwing •How to center clay on the potters wheel •How to throw a cylinder •How to make a pinch pot •Clean up procedures This workshop is meant to be a fun and enriching experience and I am really excited to be able to be at a stage in my practice where I can share what I have learned. I will adjust my teaching to suit you and we will go at a pace that is comfortable to you. The workshop includes all materials and firing of your work. Finished pieces will be clear glazed by me. Once fired, you can pay to have your work shipped to you or come pick it up. ***Please note that you will not trim or glaze your piece during this workshop as these processes require plenty of drying time and you would need to come back for extra sessions to do this. If you would like to learn trimming and glazing, I recommend taking Intro to Wheel Throwing. Price includes enrollment for two students.

Megan Young

I have been teaching pottery and visual arts to all ages since 2018 at studios across Northeast Ohio, including the Beck Center for the Arts, Orange Art Center, and Near West Intergenerational School. I believe in the importance of fostering a fun and welcoming studio environment for students of all levels and degrees of experience. We'll most likely listen to some music and chat about life while we work.
