  • Private Immersive Wheel Throwing

    This course is suitable for beginners, intermediate, and advanced levels. It is designed to teach you in depth about creating wheel-thrown pottery, throwing altered forms, and additive and subtractive surface decoration techniques. This course is perfect for you if: •You are a beginner and have never touched clay before. •You have some experience working with clay or doing some visual art, like drawing or painting •You have experience throwing or working with clay •You would enjoy doing some meditative design •You want to dedicate some time to learning and improving your pottery skills •You have specific ideas of projects you want to make •You just want to come hang out and be present and enjoy the beauty of clay! I will help you through every step of the process, giving pointers and demonstrations as we go. During the course you will learn: Week 1 •How to measure and wedge clay in preparation for throwing •How to center clay on the potters wheel •How to throw a cylinder (you will make at least 2) •Clean up procedures Week 2 •Spend some additional time practicing throwing •Throwing altered forms Week 3 •About the stages of clay (soft, leather hard, bone dry, etc.) and when it is ready for trimming •Trimming your piece to create you desired profile •Adding a foot ring •Painting your piece with underglaze and carving high contrast designs (sgraffito) •Recycling clay and maintaining a sustainable studio Week 3 •Pulling and attaching handles •Additive decoration Week 4 •About glazes and what they do •How to prepare a glaze •How to glaze your piece •How to clean your piece after glazing to prevent accidents in the kiln This course is meant to be a fun and enriching experience and I am really excited to be able to be at a stage in my practice where I can share what I have learned. I will adjust my teaching to suit you and we will go at a pace that is comfortable to you. The course includes all materials and firing of your work. Once fired, you can pay to have your work shipped to you or come pick it up. Once you have booked your first session, I will email you to schedule your next four sessions. Please keep in mind each session should ideally be one week apart to allow for drying/firing time. (You cannot book all 5 sessions in one week.)

  • Planter Workshop (BYOB)

    Enjoy a laid back afternoon making your own handbuilt ceramic plant pot! Bring your own snacks, beer, wine, or non-alcoholic beverage to enjoy while you work. You will create a slab-built plant pot (with or without a drainage hole) out of clay and paint it with underglaze. I will clear glaze your work for you and contact you when it is fired and ready for pick up. Please note, this class takes place in a non-climate-controlled detached garage, so dress accordingly.     Enjoy a laid back evening making your own ceramic creations! This is not a class, but an opportunity to for people of all levels of ceramics experience to play around and make things with clay. I will clear glaze your work for you and contact you when it is fired and ready for pick up. Please note, this class takes place in a non-climate-controlled detached garage, so dress accordingly.

  • Pick Up/Drop Off

    Schedule pick up once you have received notification that your work/order is ready for pick up, or drop off a completed take-home clay kit for firing.
